INSTALLATION IS SIMPLE
SafeWater Water Softeners were designed with the homeowner in mind. Rather than employ a costly network of distributors and installers, we worked hard to design a softener that is easily installed by you or your neighborhood plumber in less than an hour.

IMPORTANT NOTE: SafeWater Softeners are so efficient, they'll actually pull old scale from existing pipework, eliminating it forever! Scale that has formed over years, and years of use will disappear... dissolved by SafeWater Softeners over a period of a few weeks. Depending on your pipes' condition, it may seem like the softener is not working at first... but patience rewards you with soft water, and super-clean pipes for life!

NO DISTRIBUTORS + NO INSTALLERS = HUGE SAVINGS!
The result of our simple design is a quality unit that should retail for twice the price you will pay here, with the convenience of easy installation.

Below you will find all the instructions you need. But really, the only things you need to remember are which way the water flows, and which way is up. Yes! Installing a SafeWater Softener is really that simple!

BEFORE YOU START

Like any home product or appliance, proper installation is your responsibility. Make sure you have the tools necessary for correct installation, or hire a plumber to install this unit. Remember... installation takes very little time, so the charge for this should be minimal. Be sure to mount the Whole House Water Filter PRIOR to the SafeWater Softener. Replacement filter elements for the whole house water filter are available here: 5 micron pleated filter element.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Unlike salt-based softeners, SafeWater Water Softeners do not remove the healthy minerals in order to soften the water.

For this reason, traditional water hardness testing equipment (these rely on the mineral content in water to determine the relative hardness) will not provide results on SoftWater Softener performance.

HERE IT IS AGAIN IN PLAIN ENGLISH
Water entering a SafeWater Softener will have the same Grains per Gallon hardness when leaving the softener because the water will still contain all the healthy minerals. So 20 Grains per Gallon in, 20 Grains per Gallon out.

AS A MATTER OF FACT, READINGS MAY GO UP!

Since our way of softening water also removes old scale from existing plumbing and some water-using equipment, the hardness reading leaving faucets may read 26 Grains per Gallon hardness until all the scale has been eliminated.

If your home is relatively old, this process may take several weeks of normal use.

SOFT WATER FROM DAY ONE, OR YOUR MONEY BACK!
It is important to note that despite these readings, the water is soft from day one. Remember, your satisfaction is guaranteed, or we will refund your money, up to 3 MONTHS after purchase!

WATER SOFTENERS
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES
FIRST, SOME IMPORTANT NOTES

Install the provided Whole House Water Filter in the water line before it enters the softener. This keeps the internal components of the softener clean and working at full capacity, as well as filtering sediment, rust and particulates throughout the house. The pleated water filter cartridges last several months and are very simple to maintain. The pleated filter may be removed and washed with a hose, when you notice a water pressure drop. This will preserve the life of the pleated filter and the SafeWater Softener.

Do not plumb a by-pass around the unit as the softened water is preferable for everything water is used for... drinking, cooking, bathing, shampooing, lawns and plants, and all your hot and cold water needs.

#1 FIRST, TURN OFF WATER SUPPLY WHERE IT ENTERS THE BUILDING.

#2
Install the Whole House Water Filter followed by the softener in a VERTICAL POSITION noting the correct water flow as shown in the diagram above.

ALWAYS HOLD THE OCTAGONAL PORTS WITH A WRENCH WHEN MAKING A CONNECTION TO EITHER PORT. NOT DOING SO MAY CAUSE THE OCTAGONAL PORT CONNECTION TO LEAK INSIDE THE UNIT OR SPLIT, VOIDING WARRANTY.

Double-check to make certain the proper connections are made to the IN & OUT ports. Softener will not perform if the connections are reversed.

Use teflon thread tape on all connections. Wind tape counter-clockwise to prevent it from coming loose when starting connections.

If soldering connections are used, be certain to wrap a cold, wet cloth around the area being soldered so that the heat does not destroy the plastic threads in the IN and OUT ports.

#3 After all connections are made, start water flow carefully, checking for leaks around the ports where your connections are made.

IF YOUR CONNECTIONS LEAK... HOLD THE OCTAGONAL PORTS WITH A WRENCH WHILE TIGHTENING CONNECTIONS. NOT DOING DO MAY CAUSE PORT CONNECTIONS TO LEAK INSIDE THE UNIT OR SPLIT, VOIDING WARRANTY.

#4 After checking for leaks in connections to the SafeWater Softener, drain out the water heater to remove old, slushy scale etc. This will allow newly softened water to fill the water heater tank.

REPLACEMENT FILTER ELEMENTS FOR THE WHOLE HOUSE WATER FILTER MAY BE PURCHASED FROM BESTFILTERS.COM BY FOLLOWING THIS LINK: 5 MICRON PLEATED REPLACEMENT WATER FILTER.

IMPORTANT NOTE
SafeWater Softeners not only soften water, they also pull old scale from pipes and equipment. For this reason, you will need to remove and clean out aerators from faucets every 2 or 3 weeks for the first few months after installation.

THAT'S IT! GET READY TO ENJOY YEARS OF SOFT WATER THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE!
